Training on "Economic effectiveness of sainfoin cultivation”
Within the program "Fodder production and pasture improvement as a COVID-19 response measure" from September 28 to October 6, “Shen” NGO organised training discussions for 160 beneficiary farmers of Gegharkunik, Shirak, and Lori marzes on the topic "Economic effectiveness of sainfoin cultivation.”
Production of economically efficient fodder is a major challenge for livestock farmers. During the training, our specialists presented the comparison and profitability of traditional and recommended cultivation methods with calculations of costs and profits of sainfoin cultivation. In the second part, it was compared with spring-sown barley and autumn-sown wheat by calculating economic efficiency.
The participants asked many questions, which were related to the norm of sowing, the requirements for the seed, and extra-root fertilization. The specialists gave reasonable and satisfactory answers to all the questions.
At the end of the course, in each community, we provided relevant information materials and brochures to all participating farmers and members of cooperatives.
