Participatory Assessment of Climate and Disaster Risks in Shenavan
On December 2 and 9, we conducted a Participatory Assessment of Climate and Disaster Risks (PACDR) in the Shenavan settlement of Spitak consolidated community of Lori Province.
The assessment methodology was jointly developed by the Swiss HEKS-EPER and the German Brot für die Welt. PACDR is a tool for integrating climate and disaster risks into community planning and development processes. It can help communities identify local climate and disaster risks and strengthen their capacity to respond to the challenges posed by these risks.
Representatives of regional authorities, the Spitak consolidated community, the administrative head of Shenavan, the residents of the village, and NGOs active in the area participated in the two-day assessment workshop. At the end of the workshop, the stakeholders jointly developed an action plan. The participants discussed the possibilities of its implementation and the assumption of commitments by individual actors.
