Exchange Visit of Tsovak Farmers Marketing Group
On August 22, we organized an exchange visit to the "Scientific Center of Vegetable and Industrial Crops" (SCVIC) and the greenhouses of farmer Armen Simonyan in the Darakert settlement of Masis consolidated community, Ararat Marz, for the members of the newly formed farmers marketing group of Tsovak settlement, Gegharkunik Marz. The visit was organised within “The establishment and strengthening of agricultural cooperatives with the use of improved legislation and modern technologies” project financed by Bread for the World and implemented by "Shen" NGO.
In SCVIC, the Tsovak marketing group members got acquainted with the peculiarities of sowing, planting and cultivation of seedlings. In addition, the members of the group visited the laboratories of the scientific center, storage chambers for the preservation of vegetable crop seeds.
In A. Simonyan's farm, the members of the group visited greenhouses with polyethylene and glass covers, got acquainted with their features, drip, hydroponic and traditional irrigation technologies. The purpose of the exchange visit was to introduce to the members of the marketing group the activities of the greenhouse and the process of organizing the work. The visit was instructive for the members of the group, as they plan to build a 300m² greenhouse in Tsovak with the support of "Shen" NGO.
The participants of the exchange visit were impressed and grateful for the detailed presentation and the acquisition of practical knowledge.
