A sustainable solution improving women's professional skills and employment
Within the framework of the "Planting 5 ha of forest on community lands and reconstruction of irrigation system" project implemented by "A Tree for You", this year we launched the project component of establishing household nurseries aimed at ensuring women's employment in the Dzoragloukh settlement of Aragatsotn Marz. It is worth mentioning, that within the framework of the project, we established 5 hectares of forest in the same settlement with the active participation of the community.
It is undeniable that rural women are key players in the socio-economic development of rural communities. Their participation in agricultural production, maintaining family farms, as well as organizing community life is especially important when it comes to overcoming poverty, ensuring food security and achieving sustainable development goals. Taking all this into account, the establishment of nurseries in household lands contributes not only to the personal empowerment of women, but also to the well-being of their families.
For the first year of the implementation of the project component, each nursery has started by growing currant, blackberry and raspberry seedlings. Through the mediation of the “Shen” NGO, the nurseries have an order to sell 1,000 seedlings each, which is a promising start for them.
We are convinced that the establishment of such nursery farms is an efficient way to fully realize the social and economic potential of rural women and can become an important driving force for promoting development processes in rural areas.
