Youth from the Lernavan initiative group in the fields of Nairian
“The Forest Restoration and Climate Change in Armenia” (FORACCA) project funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), an agroforest will be established in the Lernavan settlement of the Spitak enlarged community. In this regard, an initiative group has been established in the community, with members who are also the active youth of the community. The group has already begun to study the peculiarities of the agroforestry system and, under the guidance of specialists from the “Shen” NGO, determine the appropriate tree species and crops.
At the end of July, we organized a visit for the youth from the Lernavan agroforest initiative group in cooperation with “Nairian”. The Nairian farm and laboratory are located in Aragyugh, where the whole production process is conducted: from beginning to end: plant cultivation, essential oil distillation, cosmetic formulation, and packaging.
During this visit, “Nairian” employees accompanied the youth of Lernavan to the blooming lavender fields. They presented the plant and the peculiarities of its cultivation right in the field. At the end of the visit, the young people also had the opportunity to ask their questions, which were gladly answered by the employees of “Nairian”.
“The Forest Restoration and Climate Change in Armenia” (FORACCA) project is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and co-funded by the four implementing organizations under the Forest Alliance of Armenia, including Shen NGO, My Forest Armenia NGO (MFA), Armenia Tree Project Charitable Foundation (ATP), and Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC). The project is implemented in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow, and Landscape Research (WSL).
