New Pilot Project Starts in Bazum
In September, the Yalkezian Foundation approved the four-year pilot project “Agroforestry for Climate Resilience and Rural Development in Armenia” presented by the Shen NGO. We plan to implement it in the Bazum settlement of the Lori Marz.
The location of the project was not chosen by chance: we have previously implemented projects here with the proactive involvement of the community. In 2014, we furnished the kindergarten, and in 2023, we restored the irrigation system of the village.
On October 26, the meeting of the Yalkezian Foundation President Joe Yalkezian and Board Member Sona Yalkezian with the Bazum initiative group took place at the Shen NGO head office. An active discussion took place between the parties regarding the project’s activities. The initiative group assured the benefactors that, as in the case of previous projects implemented with the support of the Shen NGO, in this case too, they are ready to fully assume their share of the community investment.
As a result of the meeting, it was decided to start the project activities on November 1.
