Successful completion of Hovit School Gymnasium
The "Renovation and Furnishing of the Hovit School Gymnasium" project, which started in 2023, was successfully completed. On September 13, all the parties that united their efforts to make a positive change in the village, "AYO," the Akhuryan consolidated community administration, and "Shen" NGO celebrated the completion of the project together. From now on, not only the physical education classes of the school but also the sambo classes will be held in the renovated, bright, and equipped hall. Gyumri Complex Children and Youth Sports School representatives were also present at the event.
The success of the project was significantly contributed by the willingness and hospitality of the school administration, staff, and villagers. Of course, the beautiful and bright hall and the new sports equipment will contribute to the growth of success and achievements of the youth of Hovit in the sport of sambo. Still, the positive and unforgettable impressions and warmth these children received from the French volunteers throughout the summer are the most profound and lasting changes in their lives.
Although Hovit village is quite close to Gyumri, the administrative center of Shirak Province, it still shares the concerns of distant villages; the lack of infrastructure in the village, the lack of entertainment and youth activity places leave their mark on the lives of the children and youth of the village. Thus, "Shen" NGO continues to stick to its mission to work where there are many difficulties, where it is most needed, and where perhaps many would hesitate to initiate a seemingly impossible positive change. We are thrilled that our partners share our principles with us, this time, the dedicated volunteers of "AYO." And, of course, the community's participation and willingness to cooperate is incredible.
