The "Forest Restoration and Climate Change in Armenia" (FORACCA) project, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), marks a significant step towards enhancing Armenia’s forest landscapes and strengthening climate resilience.
The project is implemented by the four members of the Forest Alliance of Armenia
The children of the art group, which had been operating in the Jrapi community hall for years, had to conduct their classes in deplorable conditions. The windows, floor, and roof of the art room had long been worn out and needed to be replaced. During heavy rains, water would leak inside, causing humidity and mold. The village children's sports classes were also held in the same building, and the flow of children in the building was quite large, especially during the school year.
Since the post-Soviet years Baghramyan village, Armavir Marz, has not had a kindergarten. Since the number of the preschool children was high, the community reconstructed and renovated the free building of the school according to the state norms with its own financial resources. The building now serves as a kindergarten for over 30 children from the village.
The community resources could not afford the gas installation for the kitchen of the kindergarten as well as the heating.
Debet settlement of Pambak consolidated community of Lori Marz has 920 inhabitants, including 10 families forcibly displaced from Artsakh. The 34 children attend the local kindergarten, 6 of them are from Artsakh. Another 6 children of preschool age are waiting for their turn to attend kindergarten.
Agroforestry is an agricultural activity that “Shen” NGO is trying to initiate in Armenia, although one of its systems of field protection forest layers has been widely and successfully applied since the Soviet times, especially in the Ararat valley. However, the agroforestry systems are different and can be applied in various landscapes of the entire territory of Armenia.
By decision No. 243-A of March 9, 2018, of the Government of the Republic of Armenia the activities of the Regional Centers of Rural Support (RCRS), which were supposed to provide the agricultural advisory services in the Republic of Armenia, were terminated.
The settlement of Vardenis consolidated community of Gegharkunik marz, which are located at an altitude of 1700-2900m above sea level, have always been captivating people with their flowery and watery fields, the mountains surrounding the settlements and unique landscapes, the Sevan lake encapsulating the blue sky.
Lusakunk village is one of those settlements, located 76 km southeast of Gavar, 1940 m above sea level, and 165 km west of Yerevan.
The summer camp has positive impact on the life of Yeghnajur village where the camp is located. This project is being implemented back from 1996 aiming at entertaining the kids from vulnerable families of Shirak Marz during their summer vacations. The name of the summer camp is "Back to the Nature", as one of the important objectives of the project is environmental education and basics of agriculture among the urban youth.
